Intermediate Level - Scaling Up

Service Description

This 6 hour long intensive course is designed to take your throwing skills to the next level, focusing specifically on creating substantial pieces. You will master techniques for handling and centering up to 3 kg of clay, allowing you to throw vessels of impressive size. A key focus will be learning stacked centering, a powerful method for precisely managing large volumes of clay on the wheel. You will also be introduced to throwing contra-flow, an important methodology that enhances control and efficiency when pulling up large amounts of clay. To enhance your trimming skills, we will also look at drawings of purpose-made chucks and chums and discuss how they can be designed to securely and accurately turn your pots. Attendees of this workshop must be able to confidently centre 1kg of clay. Lunch break will take place 12.30-1.30pm. Please bring lunch with you.  Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided.
